    Key Challenges and Requirements Before Bista

    GlassTech faced several challenges before partnering with Bista Solutions. They were working with salvaged projects and custom modules with bugs in Version 13 of their previous system, struggling with generating quotes (costing & estimation), and managing order and field service management. They required a solution for accurate costing, ease of handling different scenarios, and efficient project and task management for field engineers, including tracking and accounting in one place. Previously using QuickBooks and Jobbers, their key requirements were field service tracking integrated with finance and job costing. The project scope included a new website for marble restoration, CRM, quotes, order management, and field service management, with a goal to “go-live” within 4 months.

    The Implementation

    The implementation process was initiated by George Varga, who found Bista Solutions and made contact in March 2023.  George and Julie from GlassTech worked closely with Bista for a proper migration from V13 to V16 and accounting implementation. The entire implementation, including training and customization to meet GlassTech’s specific needs, was conducted virtually due to travel restrictions, with no in-person meetings. Despite challenges in handling various combinations in costing and ensuring ease of task management for engineers, the implementation was completed in 6 months. Bista provided online “Train the Trainer” sessions, with adaptations to the framework and new product introductions as needed throughout the process.

    Conclusion

    Four months post-implementation, GlassTech can now track all operations within one application, significantly enhancing efficiency. The unique aspect of this project was the Field Service Module, which addressed complex scenarios of task tracking. Despite initial challenges, particularly with the Time in Module for engineers due to the creation of multiple tasks for tracking, GlassTech is satisfied with the implementation. They continue to use Bista’s support and are exploring further developments to enhance their system.
